It is an exciting day for the team here at Orbitz Partner Network, because today we announced that Orbitz Worldwide has agreed to acquire Travelocity Partner Network.
First and foremost, we are thrilled to welcome you as a valued partner. Orbitz is a leader in the delivery of private label solutions to a broad range of affiliates that includes some of the world’s best known brands of airlines, travel agencies, financial institutions and other organizations. We provide a suite of customized products that includes world-class supply of air, hotel, car rental and dynamic packaging, as well as loyalty program fulfillment and mobile solutions. Orbitz Partner Network has been a very fast growing division within Orbitz for the past several years, having achieved many competitive new partnership wins and very strong growth among its existing partnerships. Furthermore, we have added hundreds of dedicated resources across the business, technical, and customer service organizations to help support this growth.
We acquired Travelocity Partner Network (TPN) because we believe its capabilities will be a strong complement to our existing technology, which we will leverage to further expand our products and services. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014, at which point the TPN businesses will formally become part of Orbitz Partner Network, but we expect a smooth transition and are taking careful steps to minimize disruption to your business or your customers.
It is important that you know Orbitz is highly committed to its private label business. We have made significant investments over the past several years with the full support of our senior leadership team, and we expect to continue investing in the business going forward so you can expect a consistently high level of service throughout the transition and beyond.
In addition, we plan to maintain staffing in Texas and other current TPN employment locations that provide technology, business support, and customer service functions. We are taking these steps to facilitate a seamless transition of your business to the Orbitz Partner Network.
So what do all of these developments mean for you? There should be no significant changes to your partnership during this transition, and upon closing of the deal, you will have a relationship with a company that is passionate about growing its private label business by providing innovative and customized solutions to its valued partners.
There are a couple things happening very soon of which you should be aware. First, we will be replacing the Travelocity merchant hotel content with Orbitz merchant hotel content within the next 2-3 weeks. Orbitz has a very compelling hotel offering with more than 110,000 hotel and resort properties worldwide. Second, TPN contracts will be assigned upon closing, unchanged, to Orbitz and no action is required by partners.
